Neem oil, also known as margosa oil, is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the neem, a tree which is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent and has been introduced to many other areas in the tropics.
The smell of Neem oil on it’s own can take a bit of getting used to for some.
The special properties in the oil are beneficial for a number of skin conditions both as prevention and treatment.
Neem oil contains fatty acids, antioxidants, and antimicrobial compounds, and these can benefit the skin in a range of ways. Research shows that these compounds may help fight skin infections, promote wound healing, and combat signs of skin aging.
Because Neem oil is antibacterial it is a more soothing way of killing the acne causing bacteria.
Not only is Neem a great emollient, which is incredibly important for conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, but is packed with natural anti-inflammatory properties.
Another benefit of neem is that it is a safe and natural pesticide and is actually very effective at preventing insect bites
