The baobab tree is a native African tree and the powerful benefits of baobab oil have been known by communities in Africa for centuries. The tree is a majestic one that has a lifespan of about 6000 years and is also known as the ‘Tree of life’ due to the fruits that are full of nutrients that it possesses, especially in the dry season. It can store gallons of water in its trunks –  a major contributor to its oil content.

Baobab oil is pressed from the seeds of the baobab fruit, for health and beauty purposes. The oil is yellowish to gold in color and has a light nutty smell. It is a luxurious oil packed with nutrients and minerals providing a wide range of skin care benefits. It nourishes the outermost layer of the skin that provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone.  This has the effect of softening the skin and giving it greater elasticity. It contains a range of antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin E, and a rich source of omega fatty acids that fight inflammation, making it a great choice for sensitive or inflamed skin. It is used as an effective treatment for stretch marks helping to reduce their appearance. It can also help with a range of skin disorders including eczema, sunspots and psoriasis.

Baobab oil is ideal to use on skin and hair because of its lightweight, smooth texture that absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy.
